Yankees vs Dodgers live updates: World Series Game 1 score, predictions, odds and more

This World Series between baseball heavyweights, between the biggest superstars in the sport, will be met with a new level of live coverage from The Athletic. We’re throwing everything we’ve got at this. With reporters on site at Dodger Stadium for Game 1 and others scattered across the country, we’ll be covering the Yankees and Dodgers from all angles to bring you impactful insights whether you’re watching the game or just following on your phone. On this live file we’ll take you to the last out and beyond with news, notes and analysis, plus predictions, trivia and guest appearances.

For Game 1, we’ve brought aboard a few first-timers.

Joining us are Chicago Cubs starter Jameson Taillon and Cincinnati Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart. They were batterymates in Chicago in 2023 and are teaming up again to provide player perspective for Game 1. Taillon played for the Yankees in 2021 and 2022 and has known Game 1 starter Gerrit Cole since their minor league days in the Pirates organization. Barnhart is a two-time Gold Glover who will help us see the game through the eyes of a catcher. How do you game plan for the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and Mookie Betts? We’ve got just the guys to ask, and other players are expected to join us as the series goes on.

Retired MLB umpires Dale Scott and Brian Gorman are also on call to chime in on any controversial or confusing calls. We’ve seen one or two of those in World Series past!

Are you a Dodgers fan? A Yankees fan? A hater? We want to hear from you. Send us a tweet or post a comment in the “Discuss” tab on this page, and it may show up here. We’ll excerpt reader contributions a couple times throughout each game. You can also email us over at mlblive@theathletic.com.

As always, thanks for reading and for following along. We hope you enjoy our team’s live coverage of the 2024 World Series.
