Wolves set to complete Emmanuel Agbadou transfer from Stade de Reims

Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to complete the signing of centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou from Stade de Reims.

The Premier League club have agreed a fee of €18million plus €2m in add-ons for the Ivory Coast international.

The 27-year-old is undergoing a medical on Monday and, pending successful application for a work permit, will sign a four-and-a-half year deal at Molineux with the option of a further 12 months.

Wolves’ priority in the winter window has been the recruitment of a new central defender following the exit of Maximilian Kilman to West Ham United in the summer and the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained by Yerson Mosquera that ended his season in September.

Wolves have reverted to a back three in recent weeks, increasing the need for reinforcements at centre-back during the January window.

Agbadou joined Reims from Belgian side Eupen in the summer of 2022.

He has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season and started 14 of his side’s 15 Ligue 1 fixtures, frequently captaining the side.

Ahead of Monday’s night game with Nottingham Forest, Wolves sit 17th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone.
