Toyota recently entered the compact MPV segment with the all-new Rumion, positioning it below the Innova Crysta as the brand’s most affordable MPV. Essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the new Toyota Rumion comes in three variants – S, G, and V. Here is a walkaround video showcasing the top-spec V variant of the Rumion, highlighting its design features and offerings.
Starting with the exterior, the Toyota Rumion V features chrome surrounds for the front trapezoidal grille, resembling that of the pre-facelift Innova Crysta. More chrome accents are visible around the trapezoidal air dam on the front bumper. The rounded halogen fog lamps now sit within revised arrowhead-shaped blacked-out housings at the front bumper’s corners. The headlamp housings with halogen projectors have been retained from the Ertiga.
The only noticeable change in the side profile of the Toyota Rumion V compared to the Ertiga ZXI+ variant is the different design of the 15-inch machined alloy wheels. The rest of the side profile remains unchanged, including electrically adjustable and foldable outside rearview mirrors with integrated turn indicators. The rear profile has minimal changes, with wraparound vertical tail lamps featuring LED inserts and a chrome strip above the license plate housing.
Visual differences in cabin
Moving inside, the main visual difference between the Rumion and Ertiga is the marble-like finish for the middle dashboard layer in the Rumion, which is faux wood-finished in the Ertiga. The layout and features list largely match those of the Ertiga ZXI+.
The Rumion V also boasts a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a TFT MID in the instrument console, and a multi-functional steering wheel with tilt adjustability. Other retained features include a height-adjustable driver’s seat, push start-stop button, automatic climate control, and roof-mounted AC vents.
Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion V shares the same powertrain as the Ertiga – a tried-and-tested 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This top-spec V variant is offered with both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options, delivering 103 PS of maximum power and 136.8 Nm of peak torque.
