The German automotive giant Volkswagen is enjoying quite a successful stint in India. Ever since the launch of the new Virtus mid-size sedan, the company has been flooded with buyers. Volkswagen also sells the popular compact and mid-size SUVs, Kushaq and Tiguan, in India as well. Recently, a drag race between the Virtus and the Tiguan 4Motion was held, and the results might surprise you. If you want to know who won the series of amazing drag races between the two, then you have come to the right place.
VW Virtus vs Tiguan: Specifications
The video of the drag race between these two Volkswagen siblings has come courtesy of Pratham Shokeen. It starts off with the presenter introducing both the vehicles before they begin the series of drag races. He starts off with the specifications of the Volkswagen Tiguan mid-size SUV. The Tiguan in the video comes powered by a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum of 190 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.
The presenter also adds that the vehicle comes equipped with the 4Motion all-wheel drive system. He states that it is the same system which is branded as Quattro for the Audi models. Next up, he mentions that the Volkswagen Virtus GT here comes powered by a 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine that makes around 150 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque.
Talking about the differences, he adds that both vehicles, although both cars get DSG transmission from VW, they are different. He stated that the Virtus comes equipped with a DQ200 dry clutch transmission. Meanwhile, the Tiguan gets a DQ381 wet clutch transmission, which helps in easily launching the vehicle from the get-go.
Drag races between the siblings
After the introduction, both cars get lined up at the start line for the drag race. The presenter takes the seat behind the steering of Tiguan. He mentions that for the first race, he will be putting the SUV in sports mode and will keep the ESC on and the AC on as well. He adds that he will be launching the Tiguan. Soon after this, they start the race, and surprisingly, the Virtus takes the lead.
The presenter mentions that somehow the vehicle did not launch perfectly and hence got left behind. After this, for the second round, the Tiguan driver switches off the air conditioning system and launches it. This time around, the Tiguan gets off the line very quickly and leaves the Virtus behind in the dust. Despite trying, the Virtus could not catch up to the Tiguan.
In the third round, both cars launch at the same time, and the Virtus keeps up with the Tiguan for a little bit. However, after crossing around the 100 kmph mark, the Virtus gets left behind, and the Tiguan wins the third round. For the last round, the presenter suggests performing a rolling race. In this race as well, the Tiguan takes the win away from the Virtus, proving itself to be the more powerful and faster VW sibling.
