North Carolina Tar Heels wide receiver Tez Walker was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation after Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech, the school said in a statement to multiple outlets. Here’s what you need to know:
- With 2:54 remaining in the fourth quarter, Walker caught a 36-yard pass from Drake Maye. Then, Georgia Tech safety Ahmari Harvey delivered a massive tackle on Walker, forcing a fumble recovered by K.J. Wallace.
- Walker stayed down following the big hit and was attended to by trainers before walking slowly to the sidelines.
- Walker tallied three receptions for 76 yards in the 46-42 loss, the No. 17 Tar Heels’ second of the season.
Oh my goodness what a hit by GT. Tez Walker fumbles and he’s still down.

Backstory
Saturday was Walker’s fourth game with the Tar Heels in 2023. On Oct. 5, the NCAA granted Walker immediate eligibility to play this season after receiving “new information” regarding his transfer waiver, reversing course after previously denying his waiver request in August and a subsequent appeal in September.
In 2023, Walker has 26 receptions for 397 yards and four touchdowns.
