Trump asks to dismiss D.C. election interference charges, citing 'presidential immunity'

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday asked a federal judge in Washington, D.C., to dismiss his indictment on election interference charges, claiming he is “absolutely immune from prosecution.

Attorneys for Trump in a court filing wrote that the former president “emphatically denies” the indictment from special counsel Jack Smith charging him with conspiring to overturn his electoral loss to President Joe Biden in 2020.
