ICYMI: Man City complete Gvardiol transfer from RB Leipzig

Not to be outdone by their ‘Big Six’ rivals, Manchester City made a signing of their own on Saturday.

Josko Gvardiol, the 21-year-old centre-back, completed his move from RB Leipzig, signing a five-year deal with the Premier League champions.

The Athletic reported last week City had agreed to pay RB Leipzig €90million (£77.6m, $98.6m) for the defender.

ICYMI: Chelsea sign goalkeeper Sanchez from Brighton

Business between Chelsea and Brighton has been frequent over the past few years, in both players and staff.

And on Saturday goalkeeper Robert Sanchez became the latest to make the switch.

The 25-year-old signed a seven-year contract after a fee in the region of £25million ($31.7m) was agreed between the two clubs.

It may not be the final trade this window. Brighton have so far rejected four bids from Chelsea for midfielder Moises Caicedo, the latest being an offer of £80million (£75m plus £5m in add-ons) made last month.

ICYMI: Man United unveil Hojlund at Old Trafford

As the previous post’s lead image may have given away, Manchester United finally confirmed the signing of Rasmus Hojlund on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Dane was presented to the Old Trafford crowd before United’s 3-1 win over Lens (which was analysed here by Carl Anka).

Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Hojlund in action, however, as he sustained a small injury during pre-season training with Atalanta.

He is recovering well and taking part in training, but not yet ready to play. It is likely to take a few weeks for him to reach match fitness.

United’s opening Premier League fixtures are Wolves (H) on August 14, Spurs (A) on August 19 and Nottingham Forest (H) on August 26.
