Lukas Podolski had a few January moves in his career and the former Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Cologne man has been speaking to our Jordan Campbell.
Still playing at the ripe old age of 39 for Polish side Gornik Zabrze, his hometown club from childhood, Podolski is still motivated to keep playing.
From owning a kebab shop and ice cream parlours to his role as a judge on Germany’s version of the Got Talent tv show, his options post-football are plentiful. Could this be he last season? Here’s what he had to say:
💬 “There is something in my mind for this to be the last season, but I always leave the door open.
“Maybe in April or May, I will decide something different. We will see. I am calm. I have seen everything in the world of football and have achieved a lot. From my side, there is not any pressure. I lived my dream.
“Physically, it does not scare me to play a couple more years in this league. The bigger problem is the head. It is not just your professional career, you start your career in the youth academy. When you see all the years you spend, every day training and every weekend you have a tournament or a game, sometimes it is time for another life.”
