Toyota has unveiled its latest offering in the Indian automotive market – the highly anticipated Toyota Rumion MPV. This new model, based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, is set to make its mark in the mid-size MPV segment and is expected to be launched in the near future. With the unveiling of the Toyota Rumion, the brand is all set to offer a fresh and exciting option for families seeking a more affordable Toyota MPV. The new Rumion MPV will sit below the Toyota Innova MPV lineup in India.

Toyota Rumion: In detail
The Toyota Rumion MPV is poised to arrive with a comprehensive lineup of variants, catering to a wide range of customer preferences. The model will be available in six distinct variants: S MT/AT, G MT, and V MT/AT, as well as the S MT CNG option. Design-wise, the Rumion carries a subtle yet distinct identity compared to its Ertiga sibling. While retaining several exterior components, the Rumion features unique elements such as an all-new bumper design, refreshed fog lamp surrounds, and a grille reminiscent of the Innova Crysta. The vehicle’s character is further enhanced by its dual-tone alloy wheels, creating a sophisticated and stylish appearance that sets it apart from the crowd.
On the inside the all new Toyota Rumion will come equipped with an infotainment system featuring a 17.78 cm Smartplay Cast Touchscreen audio with Arkamys Surround Sense for an immersive audio experience. It will also offer support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (wireless) for seamless smartphone integration. The infotainment system includes Bluetooth connectivity, steering-mounted audio and calling controls, and USB connectivity.
Additionally, the car will come equipped with Toyota i-Connect, which offers remote control of climate, lock/unlock, hazard lights, and headlights, and many other features. It is compatible with smartwatches and Hey Siri voice assistant. The Toyota i-Connect also provides safety and security features like auto collision notification, tow alert, find my car, valet profile, vehicle health and malfunction indicator monitoring.
In terms of the powertrain, the Toyota Rumion houses a potent 1.5-liter K-series petrol engine, known for its reliable performance. This engine comes equipped with Neo Drive (ISG) technology. According to the company, the petrol variant is projected to achieve an impressive fuel efficiency of 20.51 km/l, while the CNG variant, which comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit, is anticipated to return a remarkable 26.11 km/kg. The transmission options include both a 5-speed manual and a smooth 6-speed automatic, catering to enthusiasts of both driving modes.
Safety is a paramount concern for Toyota, and the Rumion reflects this commitment with an array of advanced safety features. The Heartect Platform provides a strong and robust structure for maximum occupant protection. Dual front and front seat side airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, ESP, Hill Hold assist, and ISO Fix Child seat anchorages contribute to a secure and reassuring driving experience.
Apart from the car itself, Toyota has stated that it plans to employ a “first in, first out” delivery strategy for the upcoming Rumion MPV, aimed at minimizing waiting periods and prioritizing customers based on their booking sequence from all over India.
