If you’re feeling a small amount of deja vu, it’s because Adidas already released a tweed Samba back in 2021—the ‘Fox’ style—however that was made of a much more traditional and flatter tweed as opposed to this new Harris version. Plus, there were contrasting orange pull tabs.
For the unfamiliar, Harris Tweed—produced for generations on Scotland’s Isle of Harris—is widely considered the world’s finest tweed and characterized by its slightly thicker, coarser, and more open weave. Unlike some softer versions, Harris tweed can be quite rough and hairy, and that makes for a very good sneaker apparently.
The Adidas Samba OG Harris Tweed lands at Adidas on September 1st.
