Tata Motors officially launched its electric micro SUV, the Punch EV, in the market last week. The Punch EV, or Punch.ev, is the latest addition to Tata’s electric vehicle lineup. The price for Punch.ev starts at Rs 10.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 14.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Production of Punch.ev has already started, and the EV has begun reaching dealerships. Here, we present the first video from a dealership where a Tata Punch EV is being delivered to a customer.
The video has been shared by Abhilash P on his YouTube channel. It is one of the first videos of the Punch EV to have surfaced on the internet. According to the video, the car was delivered to a customer in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and the car seen here is the Empowered Plus variant. It is not clear if it is the Standard Range or the Long Range version. The customer took delivery of the Punch.ev in a white shade with a black roof. The 12-second video shows the customer and his family standing in front of the electric SUV, unveiling it for the video.
As we already know, Tata is now treating its electric vehicles separately, and as a step towards that, they have already inaugurated two electric vehicle-only dealerships in Delhi NCR. In this video, the customer is taking delivery from a normal Tata dealership, as the brand is yet to set up an EV-only showroom there.
Coming to the Punch.ev, it is based on an all-new “acti.ev” born-electric platform. It features a completely redesigned front with EV-specific changes like a closed front grille. The LED projector headlamps are redesigned and are vertically stacked on the bumper. Just like the Harrier, Safari, and Nexon, the Punch.ev also comes with connected LED DRLs with a welcome function. The dual-function LED DRLs with sequential turn indicators can be seen in the video. Behind the Tata logo is the port to connect the charger. There is a frunk under the bonnet, and everything else looks the same as the regular Punch.
The side profile of the car reveals 16-inch alloy wheels finished in dual-tone. On the inside, Punch.ev comes with features like a 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and wireless smartphone connectivity, a touch-based panel for automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, a 360-degree parking camera, a sunroof, electronic parking brake, six airbags, and more.
Tata Motors is offering two battery pack options with the new Punch.ev. There is a Standard Range variant that uses a 25kWh battery with an MIDC-claimed 315 km range. The Long Range variant uses a 35 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 421 km. The Tata Punch.ev generates 122 Ps and 190 Nm of peak torque. Punch.ev is available in Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered Plus variants. The Standard Range version is available with all the variants, while the Long Range version is available only with Adventure and Empowered Plus variants. The electric micro SUV is available with two charger options: a 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW wall charger option. Additionally, the customer can charge the SUV from 10-80 percent in just 56 minutes using a 50 kW DC fast charger.
