Seattle Storm sign Skylar Diggins-Smith in major WNBA offseason move

The Seattle Storm made a massive offseason signing, landing free-agent point guard Skylar Diggins-Smith, the team announced Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Diggins-Smith, a six-time WNBA All-Star, spent her last three seasons in the league with the Phoenix Mercury. She didn’t play during the 2023 season after giving birth to her second child, and enters her 10th season in the league joining a squad looking to rebuild around five-time All-Star Jewell Loyd.

“Joining the Seattle Storm is the ideal next step in my basketball journey,” Diggins-Smith said in a statement. “The organization’s dedication to its players and the progression of the league is commendable. I’m laser-focused for the upcoming season.

“Stepping onto the court alongside Jewell, benefiting from the leadership of Noelle Quinn and feeling the energy of the Seattle Storm fans is a combination that I am confident will lead to success.”

The Storm went 11-29 last season, finishing 11th in the standings (fifth in the Western Conference).

Diggins-Smith has notched career averages of 16.7 points, 4.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
