Saints placing WR Chris Olave on IR a week after being stretchered off field with concussion: Source

The New Orleans Saints are expected to place wide receiver Chris Olave on injured reserve on Saturday, a league source confirmed.

In the team’s Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Olave was taken off the field on a stretcher after taking a hit from defensive back Xavier Woods. Olave was later ruled out of the game with a concussion.

Woods collided with Olave midway through the first quarter as the 24-year-old receiver reached for a pass from quarterback Derek Carr. After the play, Olave remained on the ground motionless as members of the New Orleans medical staff tended to him. He was taken to a Charlotte area hospital for further evaluation but was able to return to the stadium and fly back to New Orleans with the team.

Olave also sustained a concussion in the Saints’ Week 6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, returning in Week 8.

In eight games played this season, Olave posts 32 receptions for 400 yards and one touchdown.
