The Pop-Tarts Bowl is upping the ante.
After frosted strawberry lived its dream of being consumed after last year’s inaugural game, the bowl game is introducing three new mascots this year: frosted hot fudge sundae, frosted wild berry and a third mystery flavor.
The game’s MVP will decide which flavor gets the honor of being consumed by the winning team.
“The first Pop-Tarts bowl became one of the year’s biggest memes, and since then, our edible mascot has popped up on red carpets, TV commercials, sold-out Halloween costumes and it continues to get brought up during big cultural moments,” Pop-Tarts director of marketing Heidi Ray said in a release. “And fans are hungry for more.”
The bowl game kicks off on Dec. 28 at 3:30 p.m. ET. In last year’s game, Kansas State beat NC State, 28-19.
The mascot’s antics during the game were a viral hit and after the game, a giant toaster made its way onto the field. Amid pyrotechnics, the frosted strawberry Pop-Tart was lowered into it — just after it held up a sign that said, “Dreams really do come true,” complete with a heart.
He emerged from the bottom and was consumed by K-State players and coaches.
The trophy featured a football with two slots fit to hold two regular-sized Pop-Tarts.
