Penn State football gets early commitment from DJ McClary, 4-star Class of 2025 LB

Penn State football received a Class of 2025 recruiting commitment on Sunday from linebacker DJ McClary. Here’s what you need to know:

  • McClary is a four-star recruit ranked No. 100 nationally in the 247Sports Composite.
  • The 6-foot-1, 211-pound McClary plays for Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, N.J.
  • He is the third commitment in Penn State’s 2025 class, joining running back Kiandrea Barker and cornerback Omari Gaines. Gaines is also from New Jersey.

What does McClary’s addition mean for Penn State recruiting?

Though it’s still very early in his recruitment, McClary already has a robust offer sheet with scholarship offers from the likes of Tennessee, USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Virginia Tech and Maryland, among others. But he visited Penn State for the opening win against West Virginia and Saturday’s White Out shutout of Iowa before giving an early boost to the Nittany Lions’ 2025 class.

More recruiting news could come soon, as Penn State had a massive visit weekend for the White Out. James Franklin and staff weaved their way around the perimeter of the field after the game to greet recruits.

Class of 2025 running back Tiqwai Hayes of Aliquippa, Pa., is a four-star prospect who is slated to announce his college choice on Monday. Hayes was also at the season opener.
