Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has been given a two-match ban for his conduct in his side’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Brighton & Hove Albion last month.
That has triggered a suspended one-match ban Nuno received for criticising officials after Forest’s 2-0 loss to Everton in April. As a result, he will miss his team’s next three matches. Nuno was also fined £55,000 for the Brighton incident, where he was sent off following Morgan Gibbs-White’s red card.
And the midfielder Gibbs-White has also been given a one-match ban for his conduct following his sending off in the Brighton game. Gibbs-White, though, is not expected to be fit for Monday’s Premier League game at Crystal Palace anyway. He has also been fined £20,000.
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler, meanwhile, has been fined £8,000 for his conduct following the Gibbs-White red card. Hurzeler was also sent off at the time.
Nuno, Gibbs-White and Hurzeler all admitted their FA charges, with the Forest pair charged with acting in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official, while the Brighton coach was charged with acting in an improper manner. An independent commission handed out the punishments following the FA’s charges.
Referee Rob Jones showed Gibbs-White a second yellow card for his challenge on Brighton’s Joao Pedro in the second half of the game at the Amex Stadium.
Jones had initially signalled that Gibbs-White had won the ball, before opting to send him off after consultation with his assistants, including fourth official Anthony Taylor.
A Premier League key match incidents panel later voted 3-2 that the yellow card was not justified and that Gibbs-White should not have been sent off.
