For Sunshine Coast agent Bradley Milton, the launch of his new business, Grace Estate Agency, is about far more than selling property.
It offers a way to give back after a life-changing event which rocked his family.
His aim is to help people with all their property needs, building a community in the process.
Bradley explains he’s been in the industry close to 20 years, having ‘fallen’ into sales after a career that spanned the military and then construction sector.
“I was in the military for 12 years, and then I went into the building trade, got my licence as a plumber and was doing full renovations of houses in Sydney,” he says.
“But a back injury put paid to that, so I went into sales and was pretty successful.”
That sales experience saw Bradley offered a job in real estate and the rest, as they say, is history.
But it was a personal event seven years ago which really changed the trajectory of his career.
Bradley explains his wife, Maxine, suffered a brain bleed shortly after the birth of the couple’s fourth child.
It was sudden, unexpected, and highly traumatic, requiring her to learn to walk and talk again.
“She was unresponsive for seven minutes,” Bradley notes.
“We’re blessed my wife is even here, as she was not meant to survive.”
The event saw the couple reassess their goals, with their primary focus now helping others.
“It was a traumatic time, but on a spiritual level it was amazing,” Bradley says.
“It really crystalised what’s important in life, and that’s not necessarily working seven days a week, it’s about assisting others.”
The couple’s new business venture will be based on that philosophy.
Initially Grace Estate Agency will focus on helping people buy and sell property, but in the future will expand into property management at a time when the rental market in Queensland is notoriously tough.
“We see real estate as a way to help people,” Bradley says.
“It’s about putting people in contact with each other.”
Ultimately, Bradley and Maxine hope to also purchase a large acreage property and create a safe place for those without suitable accommodation as part of a real estate approach that’s all about building Grace communities.
Grace Estate Agency has been launched in partnership with the Agents’Agency and services the thriving Sunshine Coast.
After looking at a number of other real estate models, Bradley said the Agents’Agency was the obvious choice.
“They were open and transparent, and it felt like family,” he reflects.
“That genuine ethos resonated with us as integrity and truth underpin the way we approach real estate.”
As a member of the Agents’Agency network, Grace Estate Agency will have access to a full suite of business support that ranges from back-of-house administration to trust accounting, marketing and ongoing training and mentoring.
Bradley notes this is an ideal support system for his new business, allowing him access to a proven model while still enabling him to run his business his way.
His approach to sales is all about openness and transparency.
For each listing he has, Bradley compiles a complete dossier about the property which is then provided
to prospective buyers.
“If you’re looking after someone’s greatest asset, you should know it as well as the owners do,” he says.
“This information then allows us to match the right buyers with the property and gives them the confidence to purchase.”
And Bradley says he’s excited to start this new chapter of his career.
“We want people to feel that dealing with us is like family,” he reflects.
“We fought hard to get into a position where we can help others and now that opportunity is here.”
