Tickets for Lionel Messi’s first game on the road with Inter Miami sold out in 22 minutes.
Miami travel to face FC Dallas on Sunday after three home games and official resale tickets are now being sold for as much as $9000 each.
Tickets for the Leagues Cup match went officially on sale on Thursday. It is also the first time that Miami’s other new arrivals, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, will play away from home.
The match, which is a round of 16 Leagues Cup fixture, released tickets for sale at 11am central time. Moments later, they posted an update confirming the fixture was sold out.
FC Dallas play their home fixtures at the Toyota Stadium, which holds a capacity of 20,500.
Since Messi’s arrival in MLS, ticket prices have increased for many of Miami’s matches.
The price of tickets to see Messi’s debut for Miami against Cruz Azul increased massively since the announcement of his transfer. Prices of resale tickets for that match on July 21 ranged from $200 to $5,000. Many celebrities were in attendance, including Kim Kardashian, LeBron James, DJ Khaled and Derek Jeter.
Should Miami beat FC Dallas and progress to the quarter-finals, they are guaranteed to play at home against one of the Houston Dynamo, Charlotte FC or Cruz Azul next weekend.
Messi, meanwhile, continued his impressive goalscoring record since moving to Miami after netting twice in their 3-1 Leagues Cup victory over Orlando City.
The Argentina international has scored five goals in three games for Miami.
