The iconic Italian supercar manufacturer, Maserati, was recently criticized online by billionaire Chairman and Managing Director of the Raymond Group, Gautam Singhania. In a series of tweets, the CEO stated that his newest supercar addition, the Maserati MC20, is the worst supercar he has ever driven. He added that it feels like someone could get killed in this car. Taking note of this situation, the Italian carmaker, owned by Stellantis, has shared its official statement.

Maserati HQ, in its official statement addressing the complaints of Gautam Singhania, stated, “Our vehicles undergo rigorous quality control measures before they leave our facilities, ensuring that they not only meet but exceed industry benchmarks. Our team was quick to address the technical concerns raised by Mr. Singhania’s team.”
The statement further added, “We confirm that the specific technical concern raised is performing within its designed capacity and meets Maserati’s stringent quality standards. Though we take any issues or feedback seriously, we also stand by the quality and reliability of our products.” Maserati HQ ended the statement by adding that “we would like to reiterate that the car is in perfect condition.”
For those unaware of the situation, Gautam Singhania recently shared a number of tweets on his X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting the fact that his latest Rs 3.65 crore Maserati MC20 supercar is extremely unsatisfactory. He tweeted that the car he received has fundamental defects. He added that despite numerous attempts, the company is not addressing his issues and is ignoring him like an “Ostrich who puts his head in the sand.”
In further tweets, he stated, “I genuinely believe the Maserati is a dangerous car and somebody might kill themselves in it. Indian authorities should take note.” He followed by saying, “Maserati India is refusing to accept a customer’s point of view that there is a problem with their car. Is the headquarters even listening to customer complaints? Obviously, they don’t care.”
Gautam Singhania, in an attempt to get Maserati to address his issues, also challenged the company to let an independent test driver drive the car. He then added that the company, however, does not seem to respond to this proposition. Currently, after the Italian automaker’s official statement, he maintains his stance on the matter. In his series of tweets, he also mentioned that Indian authorities should look into this matter. Whether he has officially filed a complaint with the Consumer Forum of India is not known. However, if he has filed a complaint, Indian authorities could investigate the entire ordeal.
Speaking about the car itself, the Maserati MC20 comes equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing a maximum of 630 PS of power and an equally impressive 730 Nm of peak torque. This Italian supercar’s V6 engine comes mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As for competition, the Maserati MC20 competes with other supercars like the Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari Roma, Aston Martin Vantage, and Jaguar F-Type.
