Marquise Brown is remaining with the Chiefs, as the wide receiver and Kansas City agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, a league source confirmed Saturday.
The 5-foot-9 wide receiver, who also goes by Hollywood, was previously ranked as the 11th-highest wideout on The Athletic’s top 150 free agency board. Last year, Brown signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs worth a base value of $7 million. He missed the majority of the regular season after suffering a shoulder injury in the preseason, but was able to return in late December as the Chiefs geared up for another AFC crown.
The 27-year-old played in two regular-season games with Kansas City, totaling nine receptions for 91 yards. In the postseason, his 13 targets were the third-most on the team.
Brown was drafted from the University of Oklahoma in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens and spent the first three seasons of his career in Baltimore before being traded to Arizona Cardinals. He was with Arizona for two seasons before signing with the Chiefs. A concern with Brown in recent years has been injuries. In addition to last season’s shoulder injury, he missed eight games during his two-year stint in Arizona due to a foot fracture and heel bruise.
Brown’s best season came in 2021 with the Ravens when he had career highs in receptions (91), receiving yards (1,008) and targets (146). In his six-year career, he has totaled 322 receptions, 3,735 receiving yards, 28 receiving touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.
