The excitement surrounding electric vehicles is on the rise, and Mahindra, India’s largest SUV manufacturer, is embracing the electric revolution with its upcoming model, the Mahindra XUV.e8. Recently, a YouTube video rendering of the XUV.e8, the electric version of the popular XUV700, has been creating a buzz in the automotive world. Shared on YouTube by Bagrawala Designs, the video offers a tantalizing glimpse of what this electric SUV could look like.
The video rendering of the XUV.e8 presents a sleek and futuristic design that blends elements of the XUV700 with distinct electric touches. Bagrawala Designs has visualized an eye-catching front fascia highlighted by a captivating LED bar that spans the width of the car. The LED daytime running lights (DRLs) drop vertically to the bumper, contributing to the XUV.e8’s modern aesthetic. With a closed front grille, the electric SUV exudes an aura of efficiency and eco-friendliness.
The bronze accents and Mahindra logo on the front of the XUV.e8 further enhance its appeal. The headlamps, arranged in a vertical stack, feature projector LED units, setting them apart from the XUV700’s design. Moving to the side profile, the XUV.e8 maintains similarities to its combustion engine counterpart, the XUV700. Flush-fitting door handles, clean door panels, and a sleek window and roof design all contribute to the SUV’s aerodynamic and stylish appearance.
Based on a new platform specifically developed for electric vehicles, the Mahindra XUV.e8 boasts impressive dimensions and performance capabilities. With a length of 4,740mm, width of 1,900mm, and height of 1,760mm, the XUV.e8 stands taller, wider, and longer than its gasoline-powered sibling, the XUV700. The wheelbase measures 2,762mm, providing ample space for occupants and cargo.
Under the hood, the XUV.e8 is equipped with an 80 kWh battery pack, ensuring an extended driving range on a single charge. The electric powertrain is expected to generate an output ranging between 230 Ps and 350 Ps, offering a thrilling and eco-friendly driving experience. Mahindra has also confirmed the inclusion of an AWD system, enhancing the SUV’s capability to conquer various terrains.
In addition to the XUV.e8, a test mule of another highly anticipated Mahindra electric SUV, the BE.05, was recently spotted undergoing testing in the country. The first test mule of this EV SUV was seen at Mahindra Research Valley, bearing similarities to the concept showcased last year. While the launch date has not been confirmed yet, it is expected to hit dealerships by October 2025.
The exterior of the test mule featured smoother styling with fewer angular lines compared to the concept. The conventional wing mirrors replaced the concept’s camera-based mirror system, and the flared wheel arches were also toned down. However, the distinctive C-shaped LED daytime running lights on the front fascia remained unchanged. The SUV maintained its unique four-door SUV-coupe style and is expected to have similar dimensions to the concept.
The interior of the BE.05 was also recently revealed, displaying a simple and futuristic dashboard design with a floating digital instrument cluster and thin horizontal air-conditioning vents. The SUV will be built on Mahindra’s INGLO EV skateboard platform, which will serve as the foundation for their upcoming electric SUVs. Although specific powertrain details have not been disclosed, the platform will utilize standardized battery pack designs with capacities ranging from 60-80 kWh. Fast charging at up to 175 kW will be supported, enabling an 80 percent charge in less than 30 minutes. The estimated driving range with the 80 kWh battery is approximately 435-450 km under the WLTP cycle.
