Mahindra teaser shows XUV.e8, XUV.e9 and BE.05 doing 200 kmph [Video]

In 2022, Mahindra made headlines by revealing its upcoming plans for the electric mobility space, showcasing its future lineup of all-electric SUVs under the XUV.e and BE sub-brands. All these electric SUVs were confirmed to arrive in the market in the following years, with developments happening in full swing. On the occasion of World EV Day this year, Mahindra teased three of those electric SUVs – XUV.e8, XUV.e9, and BE.05, with a video showing them being driven at the company’s test facility in Chennai.

In the video released by Mahindra on its official social media handles, all three electric SUVs are seen being driven together at Mahindra’s proving grounds in Chennai in fully camouflaged forms. The video also shows a glimpse of the SUVs reaching the 200 kmph mark on the instrument console, indicating that they will have a claimed top speed of 200 kmph. The video also showcases the handling prowess of these large-sized all-electric SUVs on the Figure 8 maneuver on the track.

When will the new Mahindra EVs arrive?

Among these three SUVs, the Mahindra XUV.e8 is the first one expected to arrive in the Indian car market by late 2024. Essentially an all-electric version of the XUV700, the Mahindra XUV.e8 can be seen with a heavily revised front profile while retaining the side and rear profiles of the XUV700. The second SUV in the lineup, the XUV.e9, is expected to be an SUV-coupe version of the XUV.e8. As seen in the video, it shares its front profile with the XUV.e8 but gets a dramatic rear profile with a sloping roofline towards the rear. The XUV.e9 is expected to hit the showroom floors by April 2025.

The third SUV in the lineup, the Mahindra BE.05, is expected to be the most futuristic one among the three SUVs shown here. Mahindra has already showcased it in a concept form, which has hinted that this new SUV will get a completely new design language and future-ready exterior, interior, and powertrain options. It is reported that Mahindra will be launching the BE.05 towards the end of 2025.

All these three electric vehicles will join the Mahindra XUV400, currently the only all-electric offering from the brand. These three new electric SUVs will be priced in the Rs 24-30 lakh price band once they are launched in India.
