The Mahindra Scorpio-N is currently one of the most popular SUVs in India. Despite being on the market for a decent amount of time, its waiting periods are still touching 12 months. According to the company, most of the demand is for the base Z2 variant, which many consider a great value-for-money option. Recently, a video of the conversion of a base Z2 variant into the top-spec Z8 variant of the Scorpio-N has been shared online.
Mahindra Scorpio-N Base to Top Conversion
The video of this particular Mahindra Scorpio-N base Z2 to Z8 conversion has been shared on YouTube by Vig Auto Accessories. The channel and the shop have become very popular in India for such modifications. The owner of the shop has shared videos of multiple conversions of popular Indian cars such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Thar, and many others. In this video, the owner shows the behind-the-scenes work of the conversion as well as the finished product.
Behind the Scenes
This time, before showing the final finished vehicle, the presenter shows the behind-the-scenes work on the Scorpio-N. He first mentions that they are replacing the base halogen headlamps with the projector headlights from the Z8 variant. He shows that for the installation, they have not tampered with any wiring, and this whole process is plug and play. For the connection of these new lights, they are using direct connection plugs.
He also shows the same direct connection plugs for the Z8 variant’s fog lights with LED DRLs. Next, he moves to the interior of the vehicle and adds that they have utilized the same controls as the top-spec model for the newly installed LED DRLs and fog lights.
Additionally, they have given this SUV auto-folding ORVMs and have managed to add the exact switch as the one that comes from the company. The presenter lastly shows the replacement chrome strips for the window trims, roof rails, and footrests, which have been sourced directly from Mahindra. Next, before showing the finished product, the presenter shows the 17-inch alloy wheels for the Scorpio-N as well.
Finished Scorpio-N Z2 to Z8
Following the presentation of the installation process, the host shows the finished Mahindra Scorpio-N. He starts off at the front and mentions that they have also changed the grille of the vehicle. It now gets a replaced grille with a top chrome line. It also gets chrome slats that come in the Z8 variant from the factory. He adds that to give it a unique look, they have also painted the horizontal slats of the grille in high-gloss black color.
Moving on to the side, the presenter shows the finished alloy wheels with the same tires as before. He also shows the newly added window rain visors with chrome. After this, he moves to the rear profile of the car and mentions that they have added a roof spoiler and have painted the lower skid plate in gloss black, just like the front. He adds that the owner did not wish to change the taillights, so they have been kept stock.
Interior updates
After showing the complete exterior, the presenter opens all the gates of the SUV and shows the interior. He mentions that for the interior, they have given the vehicle the exact brown leather upholstery that the Z8 variant gets from the factory. Additionally, he mentions that they have also added 7D mats on the floor of this Scorpio-N.
Following this, he shows the dashboard and the front seats of the vehicle. He adds that they have also wrapped them in the same dark brown leather. He also mentions that they have painted all the trims in high-gloss black and have added bronze-colored door handles like the Z8 variant. The steering wheel has also been wrapped in leather. Additionally, they have given the vehicle a reverse camera and upgraded audio system with Sony ES series speakers and components, along with tweeters.
