Mahindra & Mahindra, a made in India car brand well known for its SUV’s, on Tuesday reported that it has recorded the highest-ever number of sales of SUV’s in the domestic market in the month of July. The company reported a growth of about 30%, which is a huge number. Mahindra & Mahindra sold a total of 66,124 vehicles last month including exports. This is about 18% growth as compare to July, 2022. These numbers back up the fact that there is a huge trend of buying SUV’s in India right now and people are shifting to Made in India cars. The number of SUV’s sold by the brand in July, 2023 is 37,519.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Automotive Division President Veejay Nakra said,
We are excited to clock the highest-ever SUV domestic sales of 36,205 units in a month. The XUV 700 tribe grew to 1 lakh strong, in a record time of 20 months. Also in July, the Scorpio brand achieved the highest sales in a month since its launch. The company continues to see robust demand for its key brands.
Mahindra XUV 700 was launched on 14th August, 2021. It is the most advanced tech loaded SUV from the brand offering many first in class features such as level 2 ADAS, smart door handles, smart AdrenoX system, driver drowsiness detection and the list goes on and on. The SUV competes with cars such as Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Tata Harrier, Kia Carens, MG Hector, Hector plus, Toyota Innova Hycross, Toyota Innova Crysta etc. and the pricing for the base variant which is MX starts at Rs. 14.01 lakh and the top variant, AX7L AT AWD, is priced at Rs. 26.18 lakh (All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.)
On the other hand the Scorpio-N which comes under the Scorpio brand was launched of 27 June, 2022. Scorpio-N and Thar are the only cars offered by Mahindra with a 4WD system which makes them really capable off-roads. The Scorpio-N is a massive car with a huge road presence, luxury interiors, modern features and a really powerful engine which makes it a great package overall. The pricing for the base variant of Scorpio-N, Z2 starts at Rs.13.05 lakh And the top variant, Z8L 4×4 AT, is priced at Rs. 24.52 lakh (All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.)
Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch their new pickup truck on 15th August in Cape Town, South Africa. It is expected to be based on the Mahindra Scorpio-N platform with a larger wheelbase. The company teased the pickup on their twitter on 29th July and further details are unknown.
The 5 door Thar is currently under testing phase and many snapshots of the same have been seen. The 3 door Thar is already a huge success and we’re excited to see how the 5 door Thar will perform. It’ll be based on the same platform as the Scorpio-N.
The brand is expected to showcase some more future plans and needless to say we are really excited.
