Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., India’s prominent SUV manufacturer, has unveiled the Bolero Neo+ Ambulance, addressing the growing need for efficient patient transportation in diverse urban and rural settings. Priced at ESR Rs. 13.99 Lakh, with a Government e-Marketplace (GeM) pricing of Rs. 12.31 Lakh, this ambulance edition bridges the gap between smaller van-based and larger coach-based offerings in the Type B Ambulance segment.
The Bolero Neo+ Ambulance is built to comply with AIS:125 (Part 1) norms, ensuring top-notch OEM-level quality. It is designed to cater to the requirements of healthcare providers in big cities, smaller towns, and upcountry locations. This ambulance is based on the proven Bolero Neo platform, featuring a longer wheelbase for a spacious cabin and a robust 2.2L mHawk engine for enhanced performance and smooth driving across various terrains.
Mr. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO – Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., expressed the company’s commitment to nation-building. The Bolero brand has a rich history of serving various sectors, including the Police, Army, and Paramilitary forces, due to its robustness and performance. The Bolero Neo+ Ambulance continues this legacy by expanding access to healthcare services, particularly in remote areas.
The Bolero Neo+ Ambulance is underpinned by the sturdy Neo platform and features a high-strength steel body shell. It is equipped with a potent 2.2-litre mHawk engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox, delivering 120 HP and 280 Nm of peak torque, ensuring rapid response times in emergencies. Despite its longer wheelbase, the Neo+ Ambulance remains compact and maneuverable in city traffic, while its body-on-frame construction and high ground clearance make it suitable for upcountry terrains.
This ambulance fully complies with AIS:125 (Part 1) norms and comes with several practical features to enhance patient care and transport efficiency, including a single-person operable stretcher mechanism, provision for an oxygen cylinder, a washbasin assembly for hygiene, and a public address system for clear communication during emergencies. With a seating capacity of D+4 within its air-conditioned cabin, it combines strength, speed, and space to exceed the capabilities of smaller van-based options and offers better practicality and efficiency than larger coach-based ambulances.
