Why the Liberty’s Breanna Stewart won MVP

The case for Stewart’s MVP season started building in just her second game with New York, when she scored a Liberty franchise, and personal career-high, 45 points against the Indiana Fever on May 21. She would set single-season franchise records for total points (919) and rebounds (371) and finished with the second-most points in a season by a WNBA player.

New York defeated Connecticut 87-84, closing out its semifinal matchup in four games and moving to the franchise’s first finals appearance since 2002.
