Honda Elevate vs Hyundai Creta: Which of the compact SUVs is better? [Video]

The compact SUV segment in India is one of the most highly competitive segments. The sheer number of options in this segment is extensive; however, despite all the competition, the Hyundai Creta is currently the champion. Now, in an attempt to dethrone this champion, the Japanese automotive giant Honda Cars India has launched its newest and first global mid-size SUV, the Elevate, in India. Recently, a video comparison of these two SUVs was shared online.

Honda Elevate vs. Hyundai Creta

The in-depth video comparison of both of these cars has been shared on YouTube by Torqued on their channel. It starts off with an exterior design comparison of both SUVs. The presenter of the video states that the Honda Elevate gets a macho and muscular front end and looks a lot bolder. He then adds that the Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, gets a much softer Korean design, which also resonates well with Indian buyers.

Next up, he shows the side profiles of the two cars and compares them. The Hyundai Creta, on the sides as well, continues with a slanting roofline that makes it more aerodynamic and gives it a flowy stance. However, the Honda Elevate gets the same butch tall-boy design that enhances its road presence. Moving on, he then shows the rear-end design of both cars and mentions that both get LED taillights, but some elements on both also utilize halogens.

After this, the presenter compares the dimensions of both the SUVs. He mentions that the Honda Elevate is a little longer than the Hyundai Creta. He also adds that although the width of both vehicles is the same, the Honda Elevate is a lot taller and offers much more ground clearance than the Hyundai Creta. The ground clearance on the Honda Elevate is around 220 mm, which is closer to the Mahindra Thar lifestyle off-roader than it is to the Hyundai Creta.

Next up, the presenter mentions that the Hyundai Creta, as tested in the video, comes powered by a turbocharged petrol engine. This 1.4-liter engine makes around 138 bhp and 242 Nm of torque. It also gets two other engine options. The Honda Elevate, on the other hand, comes with a single powertrain option, which is a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum of 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque.

Interior and Driving Impressions

Following this, the presenter compares the interior and features of the two cars before giving his driving impressions of the two cars. He starts off with the Honda Elevate and mentions that although the Elevate is a lot less powerful than the Creta, it excels in the handling and ride quality department. He mentions that its driving characteristics are a lot better, and it offers a very planted and robust driving experience. He mentions that the acceleration, however, is slower on the Elevate as it takes around 12 seconds to reach 100 kmph.

He then starts with the driving impressions of the Hyundai Creta. He states that the Creta immediately feels a lot more powerful, and with its 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the shifts are very smooth. The car accelerates to 100 kmph quickly in just 10.5 seconds. However, its overall ride quality is a little stiffer and vaguer than the Elevate. He also adds that the car makes a lot more squeaky noises than the Honda Elevate.
