Day Two of California Spring Trials 2025 is in the books. On the second day, the Greenhouse Grower team took in some of the newest varieties and series from Ball FloraPlant, Darwin Perennials, Morel Cyclamen, PanAmerican Seed, and Selecta One. Check out the following slideshow to see what captured our attention at CAST 2025.
Angelonia ‘Archangel Cherry Red 26’ (BallFloraPlant)
We are used to seeing angelonias in pink, purple, blue, and white. ‘Cherry Red 26’ stood out for its striking red blossoms, borne on the series’ characteristic sturdy stems. ‘Fuchsia’ and ‘Light Pink’ are also new additions to the Archangel series.
Cyclamen ‘Macaron’ (Morel Cyclamen)
This new series of cyclamen features seven colors and two mixes, with genetically compact plants perfect for small pots. It is an early floriferous flower, with plenty of bright, long-lasting blooms.
Dahlia ‘Venti Pink Burst’ (Selecta One)
The Venti series features vigorous plants with double blooms. The new ‘Pink Burst’ is stunning, with lovely pink petals and a unique anemone-like center.
Dianthus ‘DiaDeur Pink Shades’ (Selecta One)
A fluffy, frilly, and above all — fragrant — addition to Selecta’s dianthus line.
Osteospermum ‘4D Pink Lemonade’ (Selecta One)
Two new colors were added to the 4D series, and ‘Pink Lemonade’ stood out for its gorgeous pink color and eye-catching yellow center. The other new color, ‘Pink’, featured darker pink petals with purple centers.
Pansy Top Wave Series (PanAmerican Seed)
Top Wave, available in eight colors, features a spreading habit and flowers on the top of the stem. Vigorous trailing adds interest in window boxes, baskets, and containers. ‘Orange’ is the most vigorous in the series.
Salvia ‘Mystical White’ (Ball FloraPlant)
This is a compact plant with medium vigor, an upright habit, and good branching. Its flowers are shorter and narrower than Mysty, with more stems and narrower foliage.
