Fulham make £20m offer for Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen

Fulham have submitted a £20million offer for Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

Palace are seeking a fee more in the region of £40m and talks between the clubs continue.

Fulham are in the market to strengthen their centre-back options this summer following the departure of Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea.

The Athletic reported on Friday Fulham had seen an opening bid for Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos rejected, with no subsequent contact to date.

Tim Ream also left for Charlotte FC, while Fulham confirmed the €6.3million signing of Villarreal central defender Jorge Cuenca this month.

Andersen, 28, had a loan spell at Fulham during the 2020-21 season, making 31 appearances in all competitions as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

He joined Palace the following summer from Lyon for a fee in the region of €22million and has made 112 appearances in all competitions during his three years at the south London club, scoring three goals.

Andersen started all 38 of Palace’s Premier League fixtures last season and his contract runs until 2026.

Capped 36 times by Denmark, the defender featured four times at this summer’s European Championship as his side reached the last-16.

Fellow Palace centre-back Marc Guehi has also been the subject of interest this summer, with Newcastle United submitting an opening bid for the England international this month.
