Ex-England forward Bobby Zamora becomes striker consultant for Brighton

Former England international Bobby Zamora has become a striker consultant for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Zamora spent two spells at Brighton as a player and is currently an ambassador for the club.

“I’m pleased to be back to help the club and the strikers to achieve their goals, working on all the elements of football on and off the pitch,” the 43-year-old said.

“It’s a great environment to be involved in and hopefully I can play a part in helping the club achieve further success.”

Zamora spearheaded successive title-winning seasons for Brighton in League Two and League One from 2000-2002 before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2003.

He made more than 250 Premier League appearances for Spurs, West Ham, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers, while he also won two England caps in 2010-11 before returning to Brighton when they were a Championship club for his final season as a player in 2015-16.

Brighton’s technical director David Weir added: “Bobby clearly has a wealth of knowledge and experience from an exceptional career in the game, and he is working to help our attacking players across two sessions each week.

“Brighton fans need no introduction to Bobby. They know just how clinical he was as a player and about his ability in the penalty box and we feel he can help our attacking players in that regard.”
