Everton reach verbal agreement with Arnaut Danjuma over loan move from Villarreal

Everton have reached a verbal agreement with Arnaut Danjuma over a proposed loan move from Villarreal.

The deal is still to be signed but expected to be a straight loan move.

The 26-year-old winger has been a priority for Everton this summer, with the club keen to strengthen their forward options while operating on a tight budget.

Danjuma had been close joining Everton on loan in January before Tottenham swooped in at the eleventh hour, and he instead spent the second half of the 2022-23 season in north London.

Danjuma had spent time at the club’s training ground but the deal was not finalised before Spurs scuppered the move. Despite the blow, Everton’s interest in the Netherlands international remained.

Everton have also shown interest in Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga and Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto as they look to bring in reinforcements in attacking areas ahead of the new season.

Danjuma would strengthen an ailing Everton attack that was among the lowest scorers in league last season.
