Serial house flippers Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are at it again. This time, the former talk show host and actor aim to turn a $20 million profit on an eight-acre Montecito, California, property known as Pompeiian Court, according to Robb Report. The power couple paid $22.5 million for the estate in June, put their renowned renovation skills to work, and have returned it to the market with a $46.5 million price tag.
Originally built in 1919, the Italian-inspired residence was last remodeled in 2000 before DeGeneres and de Rossi got their hands on it, revamping it into what the listing description calls a contemporary picture of “quiet luxury.”
The single-story home is situated at the end of a long gated driveway and houses five bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. At the center of the abode, an open-air courtyard boasts Roman columns, a fireplace, and a central water feature. The dwelling features a number of fireplaces and cathedral ceilings and is lined with windows and french doors.
In addition to the main house, the property hosts two guesthouses, a cabana near the stone-lined pool, and a small art studio with exposed dark wooden beams on the ceiling. Outdoor amenities include a spacious motor court, a full-sized tennis court, a chardonnay vineyard, and a long dining table tucked between tall hedges where a Roman-style figural statue stands sentinel. Scattered throughout the manicured plot, there are plenty of quiet spots to stroll or sit and take in the numerous fountains and olive, cypress, eucalyptus, and oak trees.

Adding a potential eight figures in value over just a few months is without a doubt an enormous undertaking, but DeGeneres is known for calling all hands on deck to get a project done in a tight timeline. “For speed of construction, there’s a number of strategies we deploy. One is, of course, sheer human power—what other contractors refer to as ‘bodies on sight,’” Lance Lentz, who has worked with DeGeneres for 30 years, told The Riv earlier this year. “And, yes, I’ve been known to deploy 700 men simultaneously on a single job.”
Last year, DeGeneres and de Rossi broke a county record for the most expensive real estate deal ever closed in Santa Barbara with the purchase of two neighboring Carpinteria properties for $70 million.
