Ryan Reynolds’s Omega Speedmaster Pilot
Seen on Ryan Reynolds’s wrist at the Time 100 Summit was the Omega Speedmaster Pilot—arguably one of the coolest Speedy executions ever made. Released in December 2024, it’s a flight-qualified automatic chronograph with a combination 60-minute and 12-hour totalizer at 3 o’clock and a running-seconds indicator at 9 o’clock. The “artificial horizon” motif on the 9 o’clock register, the plane-tipped orange seconds hand, the luminous sword-shaped hands, and the bright pops of color on the dial all combine to hammer home the aeronautical-military theme, while the steel flat-link bracelet and Master Chronometer–certified movement make it a highly wearable everyday watch.

Novak Djokovic’s Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary All Black
Novak Djokovic arrived at the Laureus Sport Awards dressed in his Swiss best. A Hublot brand ambassador, the Joker wore the new Big Bang 20th Anniversary All Black, a black-ceramic take on the brand’s Big Bang—which launched in 2005. Djokovic’s reference features a large 43-mm case, a rubber bracelet, and a black dial with a dual-register chronograph display and 4:30 date window. Futuristic and high-end, it nevertheless boasts 100 meters of water resistance and an automatic movement providing 72 hours of power reserve, making it an excellent everyday or vacation watch. Djokovic may be the first to pair such a watch with a tuxedo.

Carlos Alcaraz’s Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
Tennis phenom Carlos Alcaraz also showed up to the Laureus Sport Awards in Madrid ready for (horological) war. On his wrist was a Rolex Daytona but no ordinary Daytona: a ref. 116576TBR, a quarter-million-dollar hunk of platinum with a diamond-set bezel and a light blue dial. Take a close look at the icy dial. Rather than the typical Daytona applied indices, this one features Eastern Arabic indices in blue, likely indicating that it was meant for the Middle Eastern market. Produced and sold in small quantities, such Eastern Arabic watches are hot commodities on the collector’s circuit, beloved by celebrity clients as well as royal families, politicians, and businesspeople in the Middle East. Rolex, for its part, has been making such dials for decades.

Ryan Gosling wore his standard TAG Heuer Carrera Date to kick off his reign as the newest lead in the Star Wars universe. The watch is an elegantly simple 39-mm time-and-date model on a stainless steel bracelet. As the company’s most visible brand ambassador, Gosling has worn all manner of TAGs (and vintage Heuers) over the past few years, acknowledging to GQ recently that he’s thinking more and more about the relevance of watches to the characters he plays onscreen.
