College football Week 9’s betting lines and totals feature top-ranked Georgia facing one of the best teams on its schedule in the Florida Gators. The Bulldoggs are favored by more than two touchdowns for the annual rivalry game in Jacksonville. The Utah Utes host the Oregon Ducks in a meeting of powerhouse Pac-12 teams. Oregon is favored by nearly a touchdown on the road. Utah has shown it can pull off upsets on a big stage. Both teams enter with 6-1 records so whichever team loses is likely removed from CFP contention.
There are six undefeated teams and 10 more with one-loss in Power 5 conferences as the final weekend in October approaches. With respect to the three undefeated teams in the Group of 5 (Air Force, Liberty, James Madison, which isn’t even eligible), it’s likely the four teams for the College Football Playoff come from those 16 teams.
The Michigan Wolverines are the betting favorite to win the national title on BetMGM, just ahead of Georgia. Michigan will go another week without facing a decent team, this time due to a bye week.
Another team that is at risk of dropping from contention is the Texas Longhorns. Texas has one loss and is heavily favored against 5-2 BYU, but with quarterback Quinn Ewers expected to miss time with a shoulder injury, there’s no guarantee the Texas offense will be able to produce as normal. Could we see Arch Manning? Manning was not the backup when Ewers got hurt at Houston so it doesn’t seem likely, but that doesn’t mean Steve Sarkisian won’t turn to Manning to try to keep the season on course.
Four AP Top 25 teams are on bye this week (No. 2 Michigan, No. 9 Alabama, No. 15 LSU and No. 16 Missouri).
