Chargers QB Justin Herbert not seen at practice after suffering ankle injury vs. Panthers

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was not seen during Wednesday’s portion of practice that is open to media members and is expected to be listed on the injury report with the ankle injury suffered in Sunday’s win against the Carolina Panthers.

In the third quarter against Carolina, Herbert was brought down awkwardly after stepping up in the pocket in an attempt to avoid the oncoming rush. Despite having a limp after the hit, Herbert was able to continue and finish the game.

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said earlier on Wednesday that he expected Herbert “to get better every day” when asked if there was a chance Herbert might not be able to play on Sunday.

“I was just in a meeting with him, said he was feeling much better and good today,” Harbaugh said.

Herbert’s ankle injury is on the same side as the plantar fascia injury that kept him out of most of training camp.

The Chargers have started the season 2-0 with Herbert under center despite leading an offense that is without most of his top weapons from last season. Herbert has passed for 274 yards, three touchdowns and an interception this season.
