Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that the Alto has crossed a milestone of 45 lakh sales in the Indian market which means currently there are more than 45 lakh Altos on the Indian roads. This number is not such surprise as Alto is a very versatile car and it caters the need of Indians very efficiently. The current generation Alto K10’s price starts from Rs. 3.99 lakh for the base Std variant and goes up to Rs. 5.96 lakh for the top end VXi S-CNG. Both the prices are ex-showroom. The Alto K10 is offered with a 1L DualJet 3 cylinder petrol engine which produces 66 BHP and 89 NM of torque. The transmission options include a 5 speed manual and a 5 speed AMT. The CNG version of the car produces 56 BHP and 82 NM of torque and comes with only the 5 speed manual transmission. Alto is known for its mileage, the petrol only version has a claimed mileage of 24.39 KM/L and the CNG version has a claimed mileage of 33.85 km/kg
