Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields told reporters Wednesday his overthinking during games may be caused by the information being passed along to him by the coaching staff.
Fields met with the media in the locker room a few hours later and wanted to make it clear that he wasn’t blaming the coaches for his and the Bears’ slow start to the season.
“I can play better. Point blank,” he said.
Earlier Wednesday, Fields said he was playing “robotic” and not “like myself” as a result of his overthinking.
When asked why, he replied: “You know, could be the coaching, I think. At the end of the day, I can’t be thinking about that when the game comes. I prepare myself throughout the week and then when the game comes, it’s time to play free at that point. Thinking less and playing more.”
