Most insane splurge: “The concrete sink was the biggest splurge,” Mandy says. “Worth it!”
Sneakiest save: The terrazzo tile is actually porcelain. “The square-footage cost was significantly more affordable, as were the shipping costs,” Mandy says. “The difference between these porcelain tiles and true terrazzo tiles saved thousands of dollars while accomplishing the same design aesthetic.”
The best part: “It’s always wise to expect adjustments after demolition; you never know what you’ll find,” Mandy says. “In this case, we discovered non-standard piping in the existing shower wall that ended up being cost prohibitive to move.” She changed the design from a solid glass panel to a tiled half wall to conceal the pipes, with glass above. “This created more privacy, which is a bonus.”
Final bill: The unexpected piping issue made the renovation go slightly over budget, but it had to be done!
