Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade Put Down NY Roots With $2.6 Million Beach House

Actor Gabrielle Union and NBA great Dwayne Wade might be spending some more time on the East Coast. According to the New York Post, the LA–based duo just bought a $2.6 million beach house in Jamesport, a small town on Long Island’s North Fork.

The sellers could be considered a bonafide power couple in their own right—if you (like us) are deep into the real estate journalism niche; When Women Ran Fifth Avenue author Julie Satow and The Real Deal CEO and editor-in-chief Stuart Elliott, who bought the pad in 2016, are handing the keys off to Union and Wade. The writers tore down a petite 1940s fishing cabin, and, with the help of architect Eric Liftin of Mesh Architectures and AD PRO Directory designer Jennifer Bunsa of Bunsa Studio, built the modern 3,500-square-foot residence that stands there today in its place. The dwelling hosts three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a bonus study/guest room. A private beach on the Long Island Sound is included in the roughly half-acre plot.

A winding wooden staircase bathed in a soft neon pink glow—achieved via a special film that Liftin applied to the skylight—leads up to the primary suite. That bedroom features an enviable writer’s nook, complete with a floor-to-ceiling picture window and a pendant lamp affixed to a rope reminiscent of its nautical locale. Perhaps the cozy workspace was a draw for Union, who has written two memoirs and two children’s books.

Another interior highlight is the abode’s eat-in kitchen, which is outfitted with minimalist white cabinetry, a sprawling island, open shelving, and geometric floor tiles that transition into the knotty blonde wood that grounds the rest of the open-plan living space. Nearby, a built-in banquette provides a cozy dining spot complete with another picture window view of the ocean.

Sheri Winter Parker of the Corcoran Group represented both parties in the off-market transaction. She was unable to be reached for comment.
