Lately, we have encountered several cases where snakes have sought shelter in people’s cars and bikes. In most instances, these snakes were discovered by the owner or driver in time. In other cases, the snake simply crawled out while the car was in motion. Such incidents were usually reported from places with decent forest cover. However, here we have an incident reported from the national capital, Delhi, where a 6-foot-long python was actually rescued from a Tata Nexon parked outside.

The video has been shared by Wildlife SOS on their X profile (formerly Twitter) on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see a python sitting under the bonnet of a Tata Nexon SUV. The video does not provide exact details about the location where the snake was found, and it is also not known how the snake crawled into the car. In the video, we see the bonnet open, and the snake curled up underneath it. The post that shared this video says, “A 6-foot-long Python Rescued in Delhi. A massive python found an unexpected refuge in a car in South Delhi. The compassionate car owner reached out to Wildlife SOS for urgent assistance, and a well-trained team swiftly arrived at the scene, working in coordination with the police and forest officials. The rescuers performed a meticulous operation, crawling under the car to locate the python, which had made its way into the engine area. After more than half an hour of careful effort, the snake was safely secured and handed over to the forest officials.”
In this video, we can clearly see an expert handler getting under the Nexon to properly handle the snake. Pythons are actually non-venomous snakes; however, that doesn’t mean you should handle them yourself. Some species grow extremely large, to the point where they can even constrict a human. So, to avoid such issues, it is always a good idea to call for help from experts in such situations.
Reptiles like snakes are cold-blooded animals. When the environment gets cold, they often come out in search of heat to maintain their body temperature. It is possible that the snake might have crawled into the car in search of a dry and warm place. It had rained recently in the national capital, and this could have prompted the snake to seek shelter. It is also possible that the snake might have entered the car at some other location, and the owner only realized it after getting home. This is not the first time something like this has happened in India. We have encountered several cases in the past where snakes like Cobras and King Cobras have been found in cars and scooters. If you live in an area with a lot of vegetation, it is always a good idea to have your vehicle checked before starting a journey. Also, avoid parking near shrubs if snakes have been spotted in your area. Also do not intentionally harm or kill the snake as the forest department can actually take legal action against you.
